Technology Informatics Design Endeavour (TIDE) have developed an advanced biomass cookstove using rocket combustion that allows low calorific agro-residues to be used as a fuel source.  The grant is for a pilot to test the concept stove with rural customers using innovative payment systems and community engagement.

An extension of the previous risk underwriting project, this time in North East India.  For tribal communities in Manipur and Meghalaya, this project not only represents their first electricity through the installation of solar home systems, but also their first experience of bank accounts.  The grant is providing risk underwriting to allow a local rural bank to give loans to 550 households who have no credit history, to enable this very rural community to introduce electricity to their homes and provide power for micro-enterprises to enhance their livelihood opportunities.
